Would You Be Willing To Give Up Everything For The Journey God Has For You?

It is exciting to hear people begin to get it in their spirit the idea that God has designed a great Journey for them, and that they are willing to give up whatever would weigh them down, or hinder their progress.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1

But how do you know which Journey God has for you?  The first key is, exalt the Lord; that will shed a lot of light on it.  When He is lifted up His truth shines like a floodlight over our life.  It gets much easier to see which parts are 'Him' and which parts are 'us.'   Secondly, ask yourself... would you be willing to give up everything for the journey God has for you?  You will know your God-given journey if you are willing to give every ounce of energy, every minute of your days to it.  The Journey God has for you will inspire devotion, like the devotion a parent has with a child: you would give your life just to see him/her grow and find fulfillment.

The greatest men and women in history and in the Bible followed their God-given journeys.  Noah was able to build an ark in spite of the scoffing of his day.  Why?  Because this was God’s Journey for him.

Abraham was able to leave his father and friends and go to a new land because he had an incredible journey.

Moses was willing to leave the palace and the riches of Egypt.

David confounded the giant and led a nation to greatness.

Daniel was able to stay in the lion’s den.

Stephen took the stoning because of the Journey; Paul was shipwrecked, beaten and stoned, but continued on because of the Journey.

Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, was willing to leave His home in glory and come to a world that hated Him.  He was able to endure the cross, endure the shame.  Why?  Because this was His God-given Journey.

Are you willing to do what it takes to see your Journey through to the top of the mountain?  I’m not the same since the accident that tried to steal my life; but I will not let that stop me from grasping everything God has for me.  Yes, it’s hard sometimes.  It was hard for the Israelites to go through the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land.  But some of the greatest miracles recorded occurred in that wilderness experience.  Had they never started out on the journey they would have never needed the miracles they saw.  They wouldn’t need a sea parted before them.  They wouldn’t have needed morning deliveries of bread from heaven.  You see when it’s God’s Journey, it’s on Him to make a way.  God will take the responsibility to get you to the top of that mountain when you are following His will for your life.

It’s not too late to jump onto the Journey with us.  Come to CT this Sunday to find the purpose and the Journey God has mandated for your life.

See you in church,

Pastor Barry
